BGSU College of Business achieves historic ranking from Bloomberg Businessweek
Bloomberg Businessweek released rankings of undergraduate business programs including the College of Business Administration at Bowling Green State University.
After surveying nearly 30,000 students and recruiters from approximately 600 companies, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked the top 114 business programs out of nearly 1,600 in the country. BGSU ranked number 71, up from 90 in the previous ranking, placing it among the top 5 percent of programs in the nation and the top two percent in the world.
“The rankings show that the College of Business at BGSU continues Going Beyond Business As Usual,” said Ray Braun, Dean of the College of Business. “We are pleased that our unique program, delivered by outstanding faculty and staff, is being recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek as one of the best in the world.” Learn more about the rankings at by visiting the Bloomberg website.
On Thursday, April 7th, 11 Hatchlings pitched their entrepreneurial ideas to a team of five alumni investors seeking funding for their businesses. Nearly 350 high school students were in the audience for this exciting event, with more than 40 high schools from across the country registered to host Hatch Watch Parties (viewing the event streamed live). Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship and E-Week at BGSU!
E-Week at BGSU concluded with the SEBO Series in Entrepreneurship and Leadership on Friday, April 8th. Keynote speaker Dr. John Kelly amazed the audience with the capabilities of Watson, the super-computer with artificial intelligence. IBM, the creator of Watson, is working with companies in a wide array of fields – medicine, sports, energy to name a few – to improve their efforts and to continue to grow Watson’s knowledge and interactive abilities. Over 150 high school students also attended the conference. One of the activities the students completed was creating their own artificial intelligence devices, and sharing them with Dr. Kelly. Kelly was impressed with their ideas and offered comments on where these concepts are already being developed in the world today. Learn more!

Six high school students from Strongsville, Wapakoneta, Colerain, Maple Heights and Bucyrus have received scholarships from the College of Business (CBA) because there is a faculty member in their school who is a Faculty Ambassador for the CBA. Would you like the same opportunities for your students? The commitment includes speaking positively to your students and colleagues about the CBA at BGSU. In addition to the scholarship opportunities for students, you will receive CBA swag for you and your classroom. The Out of The Woods Foundation is offering a $1,000 Scholarship for students that have or had a cancer diagnosis and/or a life altering disease. This scholarship is in memory of Jessica Woods Marchionda who passed away in Feb 2012 after a long battle with cancer.Please see the attached information and application. Seniors! GBU Insurance/Investment Company offers a five hundred dollar scholarship each year to one Baldwin senior who will be attending a post-secondary institution. You should have at least a 3.5 GPA and a combine math/verbal SAT score of 1000. If you are interested please see Mr. Hall for an application. Applications will be due by May 4, 2016.
The Kiwanis Club of Pittsburgh Foundation, Inc. is offering three $1,000 scholarships to seniors meeting this requirement:
Attention high school girls Grades 9 -12. If you have an interests in government, civics, advocacy, philanthropy, community involvement youth organizing, women’s history and leadership then apply for the 2016 GirlGov program.
GirlGov is a yearlong program held for young women in high school to promote leadership for young women. If you are selected you will travel to Harrisburg this summer and spend the day shadowing a state representative and learn about government and how to become involved in issues and how to promote community programs. If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity go to GirlGov.org to apply the application deadline is April 15, 2016.
